Ancestral Roots & the Founding Patriarch
The BHS foundation traces to Azizur Rahman, a respected craftsman and merchant whose work centered on quality workmanship, community duty, and a relentless work ethic. His family learned the daily discipline of hands-on labor, customer care, and a business built on honor and word-of-mouth trust.
His son, Atiqur Rahman, brought that trade legacy into executive management in the United States. After a career in federal management with the USPS and the founding of Madina Accounting Inc., Atiqur brought his focus to Western New York. His brother Zamilur brought practical hardware and mechanical expertise—together pairing executive leadership with ground-level trade mastery.

2016: Why Broadway Hardware Store Was Created
By the mid-2010s, homeowners, local families, and investors were restoring historic properties throughout Buffalo’s Broadway-Fillmore corridor. Yet they faced a service desert: long drives to suburban chains or limited, overpriced nearby choices.
Atiqur saw a community that needed a fair, local supply partner. Broadway Hardware Store opened at 1086 Broadway in 2016 with fewer than 2,000 items, a front counter, and a clear purpose: to deliver the tools, fair prices, and real help that neighbors needed.
Chapter 3
The Counter Culture & Buffalo’s Historic Homes
BHS grew one customer at a time. A homeowner with an unfamiliar, damaged part could bring it to the counter and receive practical help instead of wandering empty aisles. That counter culture was shaped during Zamilur Rahman’s years managing daily store operations from 2015 through 2024.
The team learned the demands of Buffalo’s classic homes—cast-iron heating, thick plaster, aging plumbing, custom storm windows, and restoration work—and built inventory around the fittings, fasteners, heating parts, and supplies that local projects require. Through blizzards, downturns, and supply disruptions, the store remained a neighborhood resource.

A Full-Service Solution Center
BHS believes that selling a part is only half the job. The store provides precision key duplication, advanced automotive key and fob programming, custom window glass cutting, and screen repair—fast, local services designed to help customers solve the problem and move on with their day.

The People Behind the Brand
Broadway Hardware Store is family-owned and operated, combining long experience with a modern perspective. Atiqur Rahman continues as President; Ashrafur Rahman leads as General Manager; Sadikur Rahman manages counter operations, staff training, and floor logistics; and Ahmadur Rahman directs digital architecture and media.
The BHS story also belongs to the contractors, property managers, plumbers, painters, carpenters, and homeowners who trust the store with their daily work.
Chapter 6
Modern Evolution
Under its digital leadership, BHS has advanced its technology with cloud inventory tracking, supplier re-ordering, contractor invoicing, and omnichannel ordering capabilities. The business is also developing ProMaster job-site delivery and BHS Academy education for employees, DIYers, landlords, and young apprentices.

Where BHS Stands Today
From fewer than 2,000 items at launch, Broadway Hardware Store has grown to more than 12,000 in-store products across tools, hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint, masonry, and more.
The next step is a 75,000+ product digital catalog—bringing big-box selection together with local knowledge, in-store pickup, and delivery service.
